Meet the Team – Matthew Lyon, Senior Software Developer
Want to get to know the individuals working to provide Ignition Wealth’s solutions?

In this blog series, we will introduce you to our team. Matthew Lyon is a Senior Software Developer for Ignition Wealth.

Before joining Ignition Wealth last year, he recently worked as a Senior Software Developer for Babora and AMP Bank Limited. He has worked in software development for more than a decade.

We asked him eight questions about his work at Ignition Wealth.

1. Why did you make the decision to work for Ignition Wealth?

I had the pleasure of consulting with Ignition Wealth on its source control solution, giving a talk about best practises.

I liked the people and the environment and joined a couple of months after that talk.

2. What are some of your career highlights/key achievements?

I’ve worked at some very prestigious companies where failure is not possible including Ingenico, AMP and Domain.com.au.

Each had its own challenges and I was key on a number of big projects including the AMP bank payment processor and integration of online wallet providers (Paypal, Visa, Mastercard) for Ingenico.

3. What are you working on right now?

Upgrading the core API servicing Ignition Wealth, which will enable us to be more flexible with clients’ requests in the future.

4. What do you enjoy about working at Ignition Wealth?

We have great people working here who have a good sense of humour and a strong passion for quality and service.

5. What are you looking forward to in 2018?

With the infrastructure improvements the future work we have planned is going to be a lot more satisfying.

And personally, I’m looking forward to a baby girl in August.

6. What is your favourite piece of tech?

I only get to choose one? I love the massive improvements in bioelectrics that have occurred recently. One day we might even have true mechanical limb replacements or machine mind interfaces.

7. Any book suggestions?

I love books, currently I’m reading a book by Aaron Elkins, I recommend Skull Duggery. Its fiction but easy to read and intelligently written. I read that book on a cruise around the Galapagos islands.

8. What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

“Give it a go”.
